What is this life about? There must be some kind of meaning and purpose beyond mere existence.
I’m sure you’ve said this to your self before. The answer is YES… there is much more to this life here on earth and beyond. This life here is like a breath. What happens after is what we’re waiting for… what will last for eternity! It’s where our REAL life begins. It’s a life with God… creator of the universe… the almighty sovereign King. But first we need to have a relationship with Him… to know Him.
What does it take to begin a relationship with God? Should you devote yourself to unselfish religious deeds? Become a better person so that God will accept you? You may be surprised that none of those things will work. But God has made it very clear in the Bible how we can know Him. Here are the things you need to know:
You Are Loved!
God created you. He knows your name. He loves you more than you can imagine.
“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
But We Are Separated From God Because of Sin
Because of what happened in the Garden of Eden, we were all born into a sinful world and our nature is to want to go against God’s will. And because of sin, we are separated from God. Even if we tried to do everything right, we still could not be perfect. The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). And because God and sin cannot coincide, we were all on a path to eternal death. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
Jesus Died in Your Place
But there is good news!! Because of God’s great LOVE for us, He made a way through His Son, Jesus to pay for our sins with His blood! “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while were still sinners” (Romans 5:8 NLT). This is a GIFT from God. We certainly didn’t deserve it, but He did it anyway!
Jesus is ALIVE!
The cool thing is that when Jesus died and took all our sins on himself, He wasn’t defeated. He defeated death once and for all and came back to life to join God in Heaven as our Lord and Savior. Satan cannot hold our sin over us anymore!
Jesus is the Only Way to God
Only Jesus’ blood can atone for our sins. Nothing else. This is God’s plan for us to be saved from certain death. He is the bridge that gives us access to God again! Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.
Now that we know the truth, we must BELIEVE and REPENT of our sin
The Bible tells us, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away” (Acts 3:19 NLT). The word REPENT means to change our direction in life. To turn away from sin. Instead of running from God, we can run toward Him.
We need to personally RECEIVE Jesus Christ into our lives
Becoming a follower of Christ is not merely believing some creed or going to church on Sunday. It is having Christ Himself take residence in your life and heart. Letting Him direct you and make you into the person He wants you to be.
Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door [of your life] and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in. . .” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV).
“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name (John 1:12).
Pray this prayer of acceptance
Dear Lord Jesus, i know I have broken your laws and my sin has separated me from you. I want to turn from my sins and live the way You want me to live. I believe you died to pay the price for my sins so that I can be forgiven and be able to be with God. I open the door of my heart and life and receive You as Lord of my life. Thank you for showing me the truth and saving me. In Jesus name, amen.
If you believe and prayed this prayer your name has been written in the Book of Life. You are now an official child of the King!
